Hello! Welcome to Art Your Data, a brand new service that turns your data into personal, unique, and beautiful wall art.

Why does this exist? Well, for a number of reasons.

Unique art, that isn’t an NFT

I’ve been creating algorithmic art for more than 10 years, and always been fascinated by how putting different data sets into code created patterns can generate endless variation. Every piece is then a unique, a one off, created in that time.

Around COVID, when everyone went mad for NFTs, I didn’t like the craze, but I did love how artists were creating unique pieces where parts of the art where generated by the values of the transaction. To put it simply, buying the art created it, and it was unique to that purchase. Very cool, but also very capitalist. So I thought, what else could we use to create these pieces of art?

I love exercise

I really do. It keeps me sane, it makes me feel fulfilled, and it’s bloody good for you. I’ve always been active, in my teens I was sport mad, then skateboarding took over and that was all of my late teens and twenties. The last 10 years or so it’s been back to sports: boxing, football, tennis, cycling, table tennis, archery, running, weights.

So that’s where Art Your Data came from really - combining these two passions!

But it’s not just me

Yee Poon - illustrator, art director, designer supremo and all around ace person. She’s done the branding and helped shape the visual identity of AYD.

Nay Groves - social media wizard, also ace person, and also ace at getting things out into the world. If you’ve found this website, it’s probably because of her.

Anyway, this is just a short little blog post to say hello, and tell you there is plenty more to come from AYD. New designs, new ways to use them, and new other things, so new I don’t even know what they are yet…
